What is the schedule? We will not know the exact schedule of practices, games, and locations until we have the full teams and rosters established. But here is some additional information we can share currently:
1. Practices will begin the first week of April assuming the field is prepared and not covered in snow.
2. U7 and U8 practice will be once per week and U9 and older will practice twice a week.
3. U7 and U8 players will play their games at the Roots Athletic Field in Westfield and not at the Center School. They will still practice, though, at the Center School. We may have an additional practice field for Spring 2026.
4. We are planning to have practices be 90 minutes starting at 5:00, though the exact days of the practice are TBD based on who signs up and the actual teams we have enough players for. We will try to work with various schedules for players on the team.
5. The Roots League has a deadline of roughly two months before a season starts for all team rosters to be established. Greenfield United will base its registration deadlines and assessment dates based on this.
6. Games don't generally begin until the last week of April in the Spring and the last week of September in the Fall. The games are generally on Saturdays, though there is an occasional weekday match.
7. There is a draft schedule for the current and upcoming season on the Roots web site.
Can my child play up in an older age group? Yes, it is possible and we may end up having to do this if we do not have enough players for certain age groups. This will require a waiver that we need to get approved by the league. In addition, we will have an assessment at the start of each season to determine whether or not moving a player up is appropriate. Players can not play down a level, however.
Is there any financial support available? If the cost of the Season is prohibitive, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We will likely see where we end up with registrations a week or two before the Season's registration deadline and see what we can provide in terms of financial support.
Do you have the option to pay over time? We have the ability in the sign-up process to pay over time in 4 equal payments. Note: You will also still receive a discount for more than one player from the same family.
What if we can't support a full team? It's possible we will not have enough players for a complete team. If you sign up, and we are unable to fill out the complete roster by the time the League needs the rosters established, we will refund players that signed up.
